Meet Tom Payn
Running in the Tiptree fun run with my dad at the age of 9
I’ve been a runner for most of my life. I first joined my local athletics club in Essex (UK) at just 9 years old, and I’ve never looked back. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of competing at an elite level — representing England from 10km to 100km, and Great Britain at two Ultra Trail World Championships.
My coaching journey began in 2015. What started as sharing my experience with others soon grew into a passion for understanding the science and art of coaching. I’ve worked with more than 200 athletes from around the world — from beginners chasing their first 5k to professionals at World Championships.
I recently completed a Postgraduate Masters in Sports Performance Coaching, which has transformed my coaching practice and philosophy.
Above all, I love helping runners discover their potential and enjoy the journey as much as the results.
“Coaching is more than just a training plan. It’s about supporting the whole athlete and building a partnership to help you grow, learn, and thrive.”
